Hosts lead the 3-ODI series by 2-0

India has clinched the 3-ODI series versus Australia while also breaking a good number of records. Holkar Stadium hosted the second ODI of the series, where India now holds the record for winning seven consecutive one-day matches. India is also the first team to have smashed 3,000 sixes in the format.

It was a rain-curtailed event where visitors were given the revised target of 317 in 33 overs. The target was chasable until Warner hit at a strike rate of 135.90. His comfort was only obvious by the way he was going for runs against Prasidh Krishna. As a matter of fact, he was even getting comfortable against spinners. That was before Ashwin fooled him with his carrom ball. LBW, and he lost his wicket.

In retrospect, Warner should have utilized DRS because a general review revealed that the bat’s edge was involved before the ball hit his leg.

Ashwin picked up another wicket by sending Josh Inglis back to his team’s dugout. The 37-year-old right-handed off-break spinner has now taken 155 wickets in 113 innings. Some of the cricket sports betting sites had India winning the match. It was the 15th over that ultimately brought the odds in their favor. Ashwin Anna picked up another wicket from Marnus Labuschagne to ensure no hitters were left on the pitch.

KL Rahul has officially won a series under his captaincy. Considering the circumstances in which he made his comeback, it is indeed commendable for him to also score a half-century off 38 balls at a 136.84 rate. Rahul Dravid gave Rahul the last-minute notice during the Asia Cup 2023, which India won this month, and since then, he has not turned back.

Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 72 runs contributed to his team’s enormous total. He now has two records in both his personal register and the official ICC statistics. Cameron Green bowled the 44th over, during which Yadav blasted four consecutive sixes. This is the highest number of in-air boundaries scored against Australia by an Indian player. Another record is for scoring the fastest half-century against them in ODI.

Yadav was later joined by Indian all-rounder Jadeja, who helped him cross the finish line in the first inning.

Losing Ruturaj in the 4th over was something Gill was not prepared for. The first power play is often interesting and equally threatening, depending on how many wickets have fallen and where a side stands after 60 balls.

That, fortunately, did not hamper his mindset. He set a strong 200-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer, bringing his own 104 runs off 97 balls. Iyer matched the sentiment by contributing 105 runs off 90 balls.

The last and final ODI of the series will be played on September 27, 2023, at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Both teams will then venture into the warm-up matches for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
